This privacy policy explains how truck8.ai (KVK 97413402) collects, uses, and protects your data when you use Battle Faeries.

1. Data We Collect

Account data: Email address, display name, and authentication tokens when you sign up.

Gameplay data: Your faeries, equipment, battle history, tournament results, and in-game currency balances.

Usage data: We collect first-party analytics to understand how the game is used and to improve it. This includes page views, gameplay events (battles, purchases, stat allocations), and a timestamp of your last activity. This data is stored in our own database and is never sent to third-party analytics services.

Technical data: Basic request logs (IP address, browser type) for security and debugging purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide and operate the game
  • To display leaderboards and public rankings
  • To process premium subscriptions
  • To send important service notifications
  • To detect and prevent abuse
  • To measure usage patterns (daily/monthly active users, feature adoption) and improve the game

3. Payment Processing

All payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store credit card numbers or bank account details. Stripe's handling of your payment data is governed by their privacy policy.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use the following:

  • Authentication token (cookie) — strictly necessary to keep you signed in
  • Theme preference (local storage) — to remember your display settings

All cookies we set are strictly necessary for the service to function and do not require consent under GDPR/ePrivacy. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

5. First-Party Analytics

We collect anonymous usage events (page views, battles, purchases) using our own infrastructure. No data is sent to third-party analytics providers such as Google Analytics. Analytics events are linked to your account via your existing authentication cookie — no additional tracking cookies or fingerprinting techniques are used.

Raw analytics events are automatically deleted after 90 days. Aggregated, non-personal daily summaries (e.g. total battles per day) are retained indefinitely.

We also record a last active timestamp on your account when you log in or perform key actions, used to calculate active user metrics.

6. AI Features

Battle Faeries uses Google Gemini (via the Gemini API) to power optional AI features, including team chat and battle commentary. When you use these features, your in-game data (faerie names, stats, battle results) is sent to Google's servers to generate responses. Your email address and password are never shared with Google.

AI-generated chat history is stored in our database for display purposes. Google may retain interaction data in accordance with their Gemini API terms. AI features are optional and available only to premium subscribers.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Your data is shared only with:

  • Stripe — for payment processing
  • Google (Gemini API) — for AI-powered chat and commentary features (premium only)
  • Hosting provider — to serve the application (Vercel)

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. Analytics events are automatically deleted after 90 days; aggregated daily summaries are kept indefinitely. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized gameplay data may be retained for game balance purposes.

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification — correct inaccurate personal data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured format
  • Object — object to processing of your personal data

10. Children

Battle Faeries is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email.
